Restaurant Review - Pacific Oriental

 

Restaurant name: Pacific Oriental

Location: Threadneedle Street, London

Description: High-end Asian restaurant in the City

Reason for visit: Farewell lunch for a colleague going on maternity leave - the restaurant was her choice.

 

I ate: Crispy fried rare tuna with sweet and sour onions and kinome dressing, £16, plus a side order of rice.
My companions ate: We were a large group so I can't recall exactly what everyone ate, but the Pad Thai and Singapore Noodles were popular, I guess partly because they are good value coming in at around £9 each.
The food was: The food was beautifully presented and my tuna was excellent - they managed to fry the outside but keep the tuna rare in the middle. It tasted delicious and the Singapore Noodles were thoroughly enjoyed by my friend sitting opposite.
The atmosphere/service was: Very good - we were served fairly quickly despite being a big group and the staff were attentive.
Price range/value for money: Pretty good - the restaurant looks fairly posh and some dishes are expensive but others like the Singapore Noodles are really good value.
Would I recommend it? Yes, I enjoyed my meal and I like the fact that you don't have to spend a lot of money if you don't want to.
