I didn't actually make this birthday card for a teenage boy, I sent it to a 30-something friend, but I imagine it must be hard making cards for teenagers so this is quite a good one! The backing paper simply came from a pack of printed papers and I wasn't sure what to do with it before as it's a busy pattern. When I came across a pack of stickers with cartoon-style messages like 'pow' and 'splosh' I thought the two would work well together. There were also some speech bubble stickers but they were blank so I added the words happy birthday to them.
